Immeadiately after My Plexr Treatment

Tuesday, October 17th, 2017

This is me straight after the procedure with the camaflague make up, that you get with the actual treatment. In all honesty I barely felt 80% of the treatment and the other 20% was 4/5 out of 10 pain wise. It felt very hot in some parts, but being the eye area , the skin is so much thinner. Once the treatment was complete it felt slightly tighter as the scab had formed!

Treatment Choices for Youthful Eyes

Tuesday, October 17th, 2017

This month I will discuss and look at ways to help tired eyes, and the reasons as to why your eyes look tired, old or dark. When my clients attend for a consultation or new treatment, the eye area is normally always an issue in some way, the eyes are the windows of our soul, when you meet a person you naturally look at their eyes. Most clients seeking treatments will say ‘I’m sick of people saying I look tired!’ These comments damage a person’s confidence when constantly repeated. There are fantastic cosmetic and make up applications that can help disguise imperfections, but without a doubt it is harder to conceal problematic issues around the eye area.

Few of us escape the occasional raccoon-eye when we’ve not slept well or been unwell with an illness. This is a temporary condition solved with rest and improved health. But what’s going on if you ALWAYS look in the mirror and see that “raccoon” looking back at you?

Here are some suggestions of non surgical treatments that can help with specific issues. The right mix of these nonsurgical procedures can nearly mimic the results of plastic surgery with far less risk and downtime.

Dermal fillers – Volume loss directly under the eye is the top culprit in creating under-eye hollows. Light doesn’t bounce off your facial contours equally. Projected areas get more “bounce” – cheeks, lips, nose, forehead…Any concave area is left in the shadows, so they look darker. Such is the case with loss of volume under the eye. So by using droplets of Hyaluronic acid fillers which draw water to the sugar derivative particles helps to re-volumise the hollow ring around the eye naturally.
Furthermore, Volume loss under the eye and in the upper portion of the check will dramatically accentuate bags since the “bag” is now the portion that gets the most light reflection. Subtle cheek enhancement will help to reduce the sagging folds under the eye and restore facial balance. I use Hyaluronic acid fillers or calcium based fillers to give definition. However if there is a lot of dystrophy or facial sagging then poly lactic based fillers are great and almost give a face lift effect!

Plexr – Eyelid ptosis is simply loose skin; a result of age and sun exposure. Your eyes look smaller when the skin above and under the eye is loose and wrinkled. Again this appearance is accentuated by the light/shadow interplay of wrinkles. Plexr is a plasma based technology which emits an electrical arc and penetrates the targeted skin surface and will tighten eyelid skin by shrinking and lifting the tissue and spurring new collagen production for a renewed, fresh appearance of the skin with less wrinkling and smoother skin surface, it can also be used around the crows feet wrinkles and under eye crepey loose skin.

Muscle relaxing injections- given around the crows feet area, helps to relax hyper active muscle activity and can create more space to make the eye area look more awake, open and fresher.

Eye creams – my favourites are Anubis HA contour for very dry skin, Inspira med eye care cream for anti-ageing and vitamin C serum for dark circles.

Treatment focus Tired Eye Rejuvenation

1 The science – a combination of mesotherapy which is a French rejuvenation system consisting of a specific eye contour cocktail of vitamins and minerals including,
Acetyl Tetrapeptide-5
Vitamin C
Hyaluronic acid 0,1%
Organic silicon 2%
Peptides and hyaluronic acid reinforce firmness, increase moisture and reduce wrinkles. Acetyl tetrapeptide-5 peptide fights against oedema-forming mechanisms and shows a decongesting effect, enhancing elasticity and skin smoothness. Caffeine activates the elimination of liquids and blood originated pigments responsible for dark circle colour, it also acts to reduce local inflammation. Organic silicon and vitamin C restore the dermal matrix to firm the skin. A unique synergy to achieve a beautiful, enlightened eye contour.

2 Benefits – who is suitable? All individuals over the age of 18, who do not have any known allergies to any of the substances and who do not have any infections at the injection site. A full medical history should always be given, medications and medical history need to be discussed also as part of patient safety.

3 How many and when can I expect to see results? A course of 3 – 5 treatments is suggested
Depending on severity and can also be combined with other aesthetic treatments.

Ageing of the Skin and Menopause

Wednesday, October 4th, 2017

The menopause is the result of a decline and change in hormone levels, it typically affects women around the age of 50-53 years.

When it comes to popular hormones, oestrogen takes the prize for being the most widely known and discussed. It is primarily the sex hormone but is also helps our skin and hair remain youthful and is responsible for skin thickness, skin moisture and wrinkle formation. Vitamin A, a great track record in increasing collagen and controlling pigmentation – Obaji Brightinex retinol

Estrogens can increase the Hyaluronic Acid content in the skin by maintaining fluid balance and structural integrity. They can also increase collagen production in the skin, allowing the skin to remain plump, hydrated and wrinkle-free.play a major role in the collagen and elastic network of the skin. Try daily creams and serums that contain Hyaluronic Acid, well know to increase plumpness and hydration to the skin – Inspira magic sphere serums, hydrating, firm and lift and cavies deep repair, moisturise with youth preservecream, or face sculpture Losing estrogens means losing dermal collagen production. So skin thins out, loses elasticity and sets the stage for wrinkle formation. Losing these hormones results in dehydrated, dry & itchy skinIf you struggle with dry skins make sure you are getting enough high quality omega-3. My favorite is Omega3+6+9. Taken in a capsule form. With regards to treatments, dermal fillers placed naturally and subtlety can help with plumping up the skin’s mattress, for fine creepy lines anymore on the face, neck and décolletage restylane skin vital boosters can really help and don’t volumise the area treated. My bespoke power booster fCiL which includes injections of vitamins, dermal roller to thicken the skin and a syringe of restylane vital gives a plump, firmer rejuvenated look to the fa e and neck.

. Estrogenic loss can also reduce the number of blood vessels in the skin, resulting in pale skin with a lack of nutrients traveling to the skin’s surface brighten your skin with creams and serums container no vitamin c and co-q-10 I find obaji bright alive a fantastic product.AVitamin C, which has also been shown to boost collagen production, also brightens skin and evens out skin tone Obaji bright alive, obaji c bright and Auriga flavo c serum

The decrease in oestrogen production from the ovaries leads to the many symptoms associated with the menopause particularly in the cutaneous tissue, including dryness, atrophy, fine wrinkles, poor healing, altered fat distribution and hot flushes, which can present in redness and broken capillaries to the face being present, along withoften characterized by hot flashes, red, itchy and blotchy skin which can exacerbate certain conditions like rosacea. Daily glycolic Skin products and in house mild chemical peeling can reduce redness and help to close enlarged pores, intense pulsed light treatments help to break down redness and flushing, as well as obaji rozatrol daily serum specisifically for redness and rosacea prone Skin.

You can also help with food, here are some Top Foods that provide Adequate Estrogen for all your skin needs:, start to include them into your regularly diet,Carrot, Beetroots, Potatoes, Pumkin, Peas, Alpha-Sprouts, flax seeds, sunflower and sesame. Bran, chickpeas , beans and soy.

Treatment focus Dermal Fillers

1 The science – a very fine needle is used to inject a soft filler substance into the dermis of the skin to help lift out wrinkles and folds in the skin tissue, it can be a sugar derivative Hyaluronic acid type, a calcium Based filler or a more volumising particle like po,y Latin acid which helps with facial dystrophy. An experienced practitioner can assess your needs and help pick the right type for you.

Hyaluronic acid fillers give an almost immeadiate effect and get better once settled, calcium based take 12 weeks to reach maximum effects, but last longer generally, poly lactic based need minimum 3-5 treatments given 6 weeks apart, but can last 18 months to 3 years

Youthful Natural Lips

Saturday, August 26th, 2017

Kissable, sensuous, youthful and plump lips appear to be the key words clients use when referring to how they would like their lip and mouth area to look. Therefore, It is essential to understand how the lip area ages and why certain structural changes occur. The lip and mouth area is exercised daily, talking, eating, smoking & chewing gum all work the muscles around the top lip known as orbicularis oculi and on the lower aspect the depressor anguli oris. Because of the muscle working hard, we see over time that in some individuals prominent vertical lines appear across the upper lip radiating from the base of the nose often referred to as ‘smokers lines’ regardless if you have smoked or not! These lines can span across the lower lip also.

In conjunction to this, the ageing process is responsible for the loss of the vermillion border which runs along the edge of the upper and lower lip. This gives the mouth a sharper, more defined outline and stops the dreaded lip stick bleed. In relation to treatment options, dermal fillers can really help to smooth out these vertical lines by plumping up the collagen depleted area. Plexr which is a plasma emission application, can help lessen the depth of the creases and smooth out the finer lines by lifting, shrinking and tightening the skin tissue. The edge of the lips is greatly rejuvenated with small amounts of filler, remember you don’t need to have bigger lips, the majority of lip clients just have the outline, which gives a youthful natural result.

When it comes to addressing the pull or sagging of the bottom lip, or the ‘cheer up love’ lines, again dermal filler placed in this area gives support and stops the corners of your mouth from drooping. In some clients certain toxins can help with excessive muscle movement, it works by relaxing the area and can benefit those who grind their jaw and teeth whilst sleeping.

Furthermore we need to consider the fact of loosing bone density as we age, our gums can recede and we become flatter on our upper lip, a longer space can become more noticeable between the base of the nose and the Cupid’s bow. By building up this area naturally it gives a more defined & younger lift to the mouth. When it comes to volume ‘never ask for someone else’s lips, they won’t fit your face and will not look natural’, what you were born with is what you should go with.

A weaker top lip with more volume and a lift to the Cupid’s bow will always help with facial balance, but an over exaggerated top lip will leave you looking like a caricature version of yourself. Your eyes should be your first feature to stand out on your face and then the mouth, if it’s the opposite way around you have gone too far and made the face imbalanced.

Treatment focus skin needling derma rollers

1 The science – How does it work?

Micro needling is a natural skin rejuvenation method that is able to soften wrinkles and scars. The process creates hundreds of microscopic ‘ pinpricks’ to activate your body’s wound healing process. As your skin heals it uses your own collagen to fill the valleys of wrinkles and scars naturally.

2 Benefits – who is suitable? All individuals over the age of 18 (or 16 with parental consent) who want to improve acne scars, open pores or wrinkles. It is safe to use on all skin types, but not for those with infection present. However this can be addressed and helped prior to receiving the treatments. I personally infuse my treatments with mild peeling, mesotherapy or hydrating injections depending on the individual needs, these treatments should be bespoke.

3 How many and when can I expect to see results? Generally 3-5 sessions are required given at a minimum of 6 weeks apart, clients usually see better skin quality after a single session, but maximum results are seen at 3-5 depending on the severity of the condition.

4 maintenance – normally once desired results are achieved I suggest 4 monthly single treatments to maintain in severe cases and 6 monthly for mild moderate problems

Here is this month’s latest article from Perfect Skin

IMG_4852This month I will focus on tips on how to care for your skin in the next few months where the heat and sun can really change how our skin behaves, how to prevent break outs and sun damage are the two main issues that so many of my clients complain about in the summer.

Prevent Breakouts

Change your sunscreen by looking out for oil free labels, I particularly recommend Heliocare SPF 50 which has a unique oil free dry touch, that feels and smells amazing, you won’t want to leave the house without it. It contains UVA and UVB filters and a powerful antioxidant which helps to repair skin.

Peel Away

Twice a month I suggest coming to the clinic for a salicylic/glycolic based acid peel. It clears up dulling, dead skin cells, which not only helps even out any discolouration, but also draws excess oil out of the pores and leaves skin less shiny. In addition a good daily cleanser like Inspira med prime cleanser helps to clean the skin deeply, kills bacteria and smooths the skin. For those needing extra support with blemish control Obaji Te pads are a quick and effective way of doing a mini at home peel, these powerful pads are great on holiday too and are part of my must have skin care products.

Trade in Foundation

I switch to daily moisturiser serum with gradual self-tanner vita liberata is an amazing light weight serum that doesn’t clog the pores. Heliocare also do an SPF 50 colour tint in three shades which acts like a foundation so helps to give coverage, protection and a light formula which does not make your skin oily.

Prevent Pigmentation

My two favourite anti pigment tools in the summer is a daily topical vitamin C like Obaji Brightalive or C bright, or Auriga vitamin c serum, used in conjunction with an SPF protector means your are preventing new Pigmentation forming which means less repairing treatments in the Autumn!

Mesotherapy glow peels

I have created a bespoke light peel combined with anti ageing, vitamin and antioxidant solutions which are injected into the face, neck and décolletage. The combination of the two equals to a smoother, fresher rejuvenated summer skin glow.

Stop volatile skin conditions like Rosacea by using Obaji Rozatrol cream which helps to keep symptoms at bay, decreasing excessive redness, irritation and pimples associated with the condition.

Treatment of the month

– Sweating is necessary to control body temperature during times of exercise and in warm/hot surroundings, and is a normal response to a rise in temperature or anxiety.

– Sweating is regulated by the sympathetic nervous system. In about 1% of the population, this system is revved-up and works at a very high level, causing sweating to occur.
– It can occur in many different areas of the body, and the condition is known as Hyperhydrosis, which means ‘excessive sweating’. It affects both sexes equally, and all races.

is not a temporary condition. Many people who suffer from it have suffered for many years, often from childhood or sometimes from adolescents.
Wetness and staining of clothes is a constant worry for those sweating from the under arm area. Loneliness, depression and decreased confidence are all factors to consider also.

Some people will be using specific deodorants and medications from the GP which can help, however muscle relaxing injections can inhibit sweat glands and decrease excessive sweating.

All About The Eyes

Tuesday, May 23rd, 2017

The moment you interact with someone, you look into the eyes. Eyes are the most expressive element of personality, tell a lot about you and are considered the mirror of the soul. The most common facial complaint from potential aesthetic clients is that they ‘look tired’ or they are concerned with heavy eyelids or puffy dark under eyes. This month I will focus on some of the most common problems and how they can be dealt with.

When we’re feeling a little Fatigued we are battling those pesky dark shadows under our eyes.
But why do we get dark circles under our eyes when we’re tired?
it’s important to note that dark circles and eye-bags are two separate things, although they often appear in tandem!

Dark circles are down to genes as much as lack of sleep
-The skin underneath your eyes is thin and covers muscles, fatty tissue and blood vessels. Dark circles are the result of light being reflected back from blood vessels sitting just below the skin’s surface.

-How dark that area is has a lot to do with skin colour and thickness.

why are they more prominent when you’re tired, it’s because your blood vessels increase in size.!

Daily tips to help dark circles

-Limit your salt intake
-Apply your concealer in a triangle under your eye rather than along the dark
– use a daily vitamin c serum under the eyes and an spf protector
-Nothing beats 8 hours sleep a night, exercise and a good diet
– take antihistamines and allergy nose sprays as allergies will worsen the under eye area
– FACT – Gravity will also affect the skin under the eyes in time, causing tissue to droop a little.

Eye treatment options –

Deep lines and creases around the outer eye often referred to as Crows feet : they are the fine lines and wrinkles around our eyes. For the most part they’re caused by sun exposure, but certain lifestyle habits like smoking can make them worse. Years and years of smiling and squinting can also play a part in how they’re formed.

Muscle relaxing injections placed correctly really help to reduce the heavy smiling and squinting action that contributes to the formation of the lines. In some case a light dermal filler injection may be beneficial as a stand alone treatment or in conjunction with muscle relaxing treatments.

Hollow sunken eyes, this is when you can see a hollow ring under the lower eye. Hollow eyes are caused by the loss of orbital fat in the lower eyelids,” in many client’s I see they often have a darker tone to the skin which exaggerates and highlights the problem More so.

A good hayaluronic acid based dermal filler injected deeply can really help, in some cases choosing a product with additional depigmenting agents will help. Using a daily vitamin c or vitamin a based product can help to lighten and thicken the delicate under eye area skin as it is very thin naturally.

Under eye bags As you age, the tissue structures and muscles supporting your eyelids weaken. The skin may start to sag, and fat that is normally confined to the area around the eye (orbit) can move into the area below your eyes. Also, the space below your eyes can accumulate fluid, making the under-eye area appear puffy or swollen. Several factors can lead to this, including:

Fluid retention due to changes in weather (for example, hot, humid days), hormone levels or eating salty foods
Not getting enough sleep
Allergies or dermatitis, especially if puffiness is accompanied by redness and itching
Heredity — under-eye bags can run in families
Also can be an indication of thyroid disease.

Lower blephoplasty Surgery is a good solution to help resolve these problems. However many of my clients would not consider surgery or are too frightened . I am now able to provide them with a non surgical softer approach to help- PLEXR , which is giving amazing results.

Sagging loose upper eyelid skin, a common problem in many individuals Eyelid drooping is excess sagging of the upper eylid. The edge of the upper eyelid may be lower than it should be (ptosis) or there may be excess baggy skin in the upper eyelid (dermatochalasis). Eyelid drooping is often a combination of both conditions.

Again surgical upper blephoplasty is a good choice, but if it’s not for you then again Plexr soft surgery treatments could be for you, normally 1-2 sessions are required and results can last around two years.

Slight puffiness and first signs of under eye ageing or darker skin

Perfect skins bespoke tired eye treatment consists of mesotherapy injections of vitamins and anti ageing solutions in conjunction with derma pen to strengthen and tighten the delicate skinIMG_9149
