twoww part series on skin solutions
Part two older skin concerns
I really enjoy helping older clients feel more confident about the way they look. It is not simply about erasing every wrinkle and looking 21 again, it’s about looking less tired and feeling that you look good for your age. Clients can be concerned with having treatments that make them look un natural, for me it’s about addressing facial balance naturally, and getting the skin to look more youthful and to have a glow. After all when we look at children’s beautiful flawless skin, what could be a more healthier ,fresher look?
Problem 1
Sundamage and uneven skin tone to the face, neck, declotegge and backs of hands, most people now understand the effects of not protecting the skin from harmful sun rays , and how it can speed up the ageing of the skin. But what happens when the damage has already been done? Powerful antioxidant skin care can help on a daily basis, intense pulsed light, skin needling and chemical peels can all help dramatically, they all boost collagen and elastin and help uneven skin tone.
Problem 2
Sunken mouth area, weak lip border and lipstick bleed lines,
The mouth area in younger years generally is well defined, lifted and smooth around the lip area, as we age we loose the vermillion border or edge of our lips, so using a natural hyaluronic dermal filler to replace the lost edging, we naturally make the lips look more defined and rejuvenated, lipstick won’t bleed. If you want a little volume this can be given also, but so many clients have this procedure and you would never think they had lip filler,
Problem 3
Volume loss in the face, we have 8 fat compartments in the face and as we age we loose this fat, however it doesn’t reduce at the same time. We tend to loose the fat from our cheek area, remember this is the shelf of the face and therefore holds our faces up in a nicely defined v shape, as we age the v shape becomes upside down and we tend to get deep nose to mouth lines and drooping to the sides of the mouth. By using volumising dermal fillers we can replace what we have lost naturally. Clients who have had a face lift or thread lifting often complain that he hasn’t made them look younger or fuller in areas and they still look gaunt. Volumising fillers are still needed even with surgical procedures.
Problem 4
Loose skin on the body, this is a big problem for many of my clients, going to the gym, and eating well, is great – but loose skin to the abdomen, backs of arms and tops of legs can be a give away of your true age, I recommend body dermal rollers or skin needling Infused with a bespoke Mesotherapy treatment to help tighten, tone and make skin look firmer, less crepey and more radiant,
Problem 5
skin and the Menopause
Since collagen production is drastically affected during hormonal loss, it is imperative to use ingredients that boost collagen production in the skin. Retinoids, including Retinol, are part of the Vitamin A family with a great track record in increasing collagen and controlling pigmentation. Vitamin C, which has also been shown to boost collagen production, also brightens skin and evens out skin tone. Peptides that increase production of elastin, collagen and GAGs like Palmitoyl Tripeptide-38 and Palmitoyl Pentapeptide will benefit dry, loose skin by plumping and firming skin effectively. To battle the fires brought on by hot flashes and increased inflammation, look for anti-inflammatory ingredients like Chamomile and Bisabolol, Of course during hot flashes, we may want to constrict the capillaries with topical caffeine and avoid lifestyle trigger factors such as heat, sun and alcohol.
